Afro Hair Schools...

Becoming a hairstylist is quite straightforward! You can complete a cosmetology program in one or two years, depending on the school, and then work in a salon or as a mobile stylist. However, there's a catch when it comes to learning how to style kinky hair...

The hairstyling techniques learned in vocational training (CAP) mostly concern Caucasian hair. The only point dedicated to kinky hair is relaxing, which apparently is considered the "only solution" to manage it.

To meet a growing demand for natural kinky hair care, it is now urgent to have competent people on this subject. Some hairdressers are forced to travel to the United States or England to expand their expertise, a necessary acquisition to grow their clientele. On-the-job training should not be the only option for Afro hairdressers.

In France, for a few years now, Afro hairstyling training workshops have been emerging! For all those who want to learn how to style kinky or curly hair, here are some leads:

The Afro hairstyling school, OLILOR, which has existed since 2014, has integrated Afro hairstyling techniques into its CAP and BP programs.
