DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OILY AND DRY DANDRUFF: HOW TO GET RID OF THEM?

Índice

For a long time, eyeglasses were seen as unfashionable. Yet today, they've transformed into genuine fashion statements. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for dandruff, which remains a persistent and unwelcome guest. But don't fret! You can effectively banish these flakes from your hair with a few simple tricks. Your first step is to accurately identify them: are they oily or dry?

There are two types of dandruff: oily or dry.

Naturally, the treatment to eradicate them will differ depending on their nature.

But first, what is dandruff?

It is the appearance of flakes on the surface of the epidermis on the scalp.

It is a sign that the renewal of the epidermis on the scalp is not happening normally.

Normal epidermal renewal on the scalp occurs approximately every 21 days, whereas abnormal epidermal renewal is shorter. Sometimes it's said to be barely a week.

Dandruff appears after puberty and can last a lifetime, becoming more noticeable during times of stress or fatigue.

HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN DRY OR OILY DANDRUFF?

Based on their structure and adherence to your scalp, you can determine if your dandruff is oily or dry.

Dry dandruff is fine and separates from the scalp, while oily dandruff adheres to it.

Dry dandruff causes itching. The adherence of oily dandruff makes it more difficult to treat than its counterpart.

And it goes without saying, the two types of dandruff are not treated in the same way.

DRY DANDRUFF

Dry dandruff is small and white. It does not adhere to the scalp and falls like snow on the shoulders when styling hair.

They are often populated by parasitic microorganisms and tiny fungi that accentuate scalp itching.

To treat them, you just need to use a simple anti-dandruff shampoo.

OILY DANDRUFF

Oily dandruff is much larger than dry dandruff because it clumps together. Sebum acts as a glue for them.

Adhering to the scalp, they form a kind of compact mud that suffocates it and eventually causes hair loss. You can treat them with dermatological shampoos. They will significantly improve the appearance of your scalp. But when accompanied by flaking of the eyebrows and sides of the nose, they are more akin to psoriasis.

In that case, it's best to consult a dermatologist.
