Faux Locs: How to Take the Plunge?

Índice

Many of you have probably dreamt of having locs but hesitated to commit. Are you ready to make the full commitment? Or are you just looking for a temporary style change? Stop stressing! There's a perfect solution for those who aren't quite ready to commit to permanent locs. The best alternative, without a doubt, is faux locs. I'll walk you through how to install them and, more importantly, how to properly care for them.

The irreversible nature of dreadlocks can be intimidating. You've been caring for your hair for years and don't want to resort to the big chop if you ever dislike them. Especially since you've wanted long hair for a long time. But still, girls look amazing with them, and it's a really cool hairstyle! So what to choose: the voice of the heart or of reason? Well, it's simple, I offer you an easily reversible alternative: faux locs. With this hairstyle, if you don't like the look, you just have to remove them in no time! Moreover, like dreadlocks, faux locs are a protective hairstyle that's quite easy to achieve. Ideal as summer approaches.

HOW TO CREATE FAUX LOCS?

Two options are available to you. Firstly, you can choose natural hair extensions. With five to six packs, you can boast a natural, soft, and, most importantly, easy-to-maintain look. The only downside is the price. Obviously, you'll have to dig into your wallet to get the desired result.
You can also choose 100% acrylic yarn for a very lightweight and quick-to-remove result. However, yarn will make your shampoos difficult, and the ends will tend to unravel easily.

This hairstyle can be done on hair that is at least 5 cm long. Before starting, remember to thoroughly wash the extensions or yarn to remove any chemical residues present in the fibers. This will reduce the risk of discomfort we know all too well, such as allergies or itching.

First step: On pre-cleaned hair, start by doing twists or braids, according to your preference, throughout your hair. They should be loose enough at the roots and thin enough to achieve a natural look and, most importantly, to avoid damaging your scalp.

Second step: Take your yarn or extension, then wrap it around each of your twists or braids. Proceed from the root to the tip, so as to completely hide them. The process is quite long, but take your time to do it correctly because the result will be stunning!

Last step: Once you reach your ends, proceed in the same way, but working your way back up towards the root. Here, you are securing the end of your loc. For an optimal result, you can burn the end so that the loc doesn't unravel. But be careful and don't set your hair or apartment on fire!

There you go, you now have beautiful faux locs! You can wear your new hairstyle for about three weeks. After this period, even if your locs are in good condition, it's risky for your natural hair, which still needs to breathe.

WHAT CARE SHOULD I PROVIDE FOR MY FAUX LOCS?

When you've decided to wear faux locs, it's absolutely essential to take care of them. Even if it's not always easy because you need to clean your roots while avoiding touching the lengths too much. To do this, tie your hair into four sections, then spray a mixture of water and shampoo.
